Dr. Raphael Bostic (hr87):
BRinging about an
inclusive economy

CA79 classmates and friends were invited to attend this virtual event in September 2021.

The Harvard Black Alumni Society – Atlanta Chapter hosted “Coffee, Lunch and Learn” featuring Dr. Raphael Bostic, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Dr. Bostic shared his unique perspective on the Federal Reserve’s role in helping to reduce racial inequities and bring about a more inclusive economy.

Dr. Bostic is the first African-American and first openly gay president of one of the 12 regional Federal Reserve banks. According to the late Congressman John Lewis, “Atlanta is the cradle of the Civil Rights movement, so it is only fitting that our city be home to the first African-American head of a Federal Reserve Bank.”

Dr. Bostic graduated from Harvard University in 1987 with a combined major in economics and psychology and earned his doctorate in economics from Stanford University in 1995. He is also a member of Harvard’s Board of Overseers.
