Dr. Elaine Batchlor, MD, MPH, is the chief executive officer of MLK Community Healthcare, a hospital and health system that provides quality care to 1.3 million residents of the medically underserved community of South Los Angeles.

Elaine's career has been devoted to expanding healthcare access, improving quality, and improving the health of vulnerable populations.

Elaine is a University of California Regent, a member of the National Academy of Medicine, and an advisor for the Duke-Margolis Center on Healthcare Policy. Her membership on the policy committee of the American Hospital Association and service as a director on the board of the California Hospital Association provide insight and influence on behalf of safety net communities statewide and nationally.

Elaine’s first-hand observations of the policy and payment challenges to health equity have been widely published in the media, including in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. After graduating from Harvard, Elaine attended Case Western Reserve and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
